River Cruise 2004

Budapest

We went on a city tour which we saw the ornate Houses of Parliament and the beautiful Gothic St. Matthias Church. Admired the view of the city from the Fishermen’s Bastion. This afternoon, cruise through the heart of the city up the Danube, towards Vienna.

Vienna
Arrive in the afternoon in Vienna. Disembark for a tour of the “City of Music.” Our tour includes the impressive Hofburg Palace, the Ringstrasse and St. Stephan’s Cathedral. "Stephansdom"  Paul and I visited Karskirche which was built to honor all the people who died from the plague. Other places we visited was

Wachau Valley -Melk
Enjoy a daytime cruise through the beautiful Wachau Valley, dotted with castles and picturesque villages. Disembark at Melk for a tour of the town’s renowned Benedictine Abbey, the largest and most beautiful in Austria. This afternoon, cruise through Upper Austria.

Passau
This morning’s scenic cruise takes you across the German border to Eastern Bavaria. Arrive in Passau for a tour of St. Stephan’s Cathedral, housing the world’s largest church pipe organ.

Regensburg
After breakfast, arrive in Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities. A guided walk takes you past the 12th-century stone bridge and through the town’s cobblestone streets. At lunchtime, continue up the Danube to the beginning of the Main-Danube Canal.

Nuremberg
A leisurely morning cruise took us through the beautiful Altmühl Valley via the Main-Danube Canal. After lunch, disembark for a tour to Nuremberg. A short drive brings you to the capital of Franconia. Tour the old city with its ancient city walls. Reboard the ship in Nuremberg Harbor.

Prague
This morning’s city tour shows us the highlights of the “Golden City,” including the castle district, the Old Town, St.Vitus’ Cathedral, Wenceslas Square and Golden Lane. This afternoon, we were free to stroll along the Vltava River or shop for crystal.
