Darrel and Ed " The Little Peters Party" arrive early at the hotel. We started the day at the Frick Collection The Collection consists of over 1,100 works of art (paintings, sculpture, works on paper and decorative arts) of international quality. Just large enough, but not overwhelming. Went back to the hotel to rest before our big evening. We had dinner at Union Square Cafe which is on top for many picky New Yorkers' lists, and the Zagat survey has deemed it the most popular restaurant in the city five years in a row. I loved it. I had the Cabrito, a seasoned and marinated goat that is mesquite roasted. Ed was given a bottle of Opus One for his birthday and we had with dinner at the restaurant.

Then to Michael and Sidney's condo for cocktails before dinner, at the Blue Fin Restaurant If you like trendy,,,,,, wellllll this is the place. They treated us very well. I need to tell you when you walk in the lobby all six sides of the room is covered with flowing streaming water behind glass.

The Little Peters party leaves today. We spent the morning at ground zero and walk amongst the freshly opened streets and thoughtfully consider what happened on Sept. 11th. A sense of the human tragedy and a respect for the astounding loss of life is the only souvenir we took away. We visited St. Nicolas Church which is right beside the Trade Center. That afternoon, Paul was tired so he returned to the hotel room and I took off on a walking adventure though Central Park
We had dinner at Gallagher's Steak House Lot's of business men.

Thursday
"America's First Resort" The purpose for coming to New Port was to see the Mansions. The very rich built these homes in the 1800's for a 3 or 4 week vacation from NY City once a year. They would bring their staffs of 50 to 100 people, and try to out do each other with food and parties. A woman had to bring 7 or 8 changes of clothes a day. This was at a time in history, that people didn't pay taxes. We visited the former Vanderbilt family home, the Breakers . A great vacation home!!!! Then the Elms and last Chateau-Sur-Mer They wouldn't let us take pictures inside the homes. I kind of forgot we didn't have breakfast or lunch. Paul was getting a little upset at this point. Dinner at Christies We had dinner there several years ago. That time we had the Clam Bake for Two... it was great... This time my good luck ran out, had the special........ it was so soo.. BTW years ago we were the only people in the restaurant. This time the place was packed. GO figure....
